Recently we worked with a customer that had requested a new slip ring with specific connectors and a special cable. Both came back with lead times of 20-21 weeks. The cable also had minimum buys of 10,000 feet. This was going to cause the customer to miss an important project due date along with adding much cost to the assembly.
UEA will always try to obtain the specified parts per the customer request. However, when we run into obstacles with lead time and cost we rely on our vast knowledge and experience in building and wiring slip rings to make suggestions for substitute parts that will meet the necessary requirements while saving valuable time and money.
In this case, we were able to send spec sheets showing the equivalent parts to our customer. Once approved, the parts were ordered and our bill of material was completed.
The end result was a customer receiving their slip ring in a timely manner with a bonus of cost savings.
