slip rings faqs

Do UEA slip rings have UL/NTRL/CSA certification?

They can. They are custom built so they do not have a certification unless its needed. Our rings are built to UL/CSA standards.

Does UEA supply replacement parts for slip rings?

Yes, UEA provides replacement parts for all slip rings.

Can UEA design slip rings for extreme environments?

Yes, UEA has designs for a wide variety of extreme environments and hazardous locations.

Are UEA’s brushes pre-formed to the curvature of the slip ring or do they require a break in period?

UEA brushes are radiused to the ring outer diameter. They do not have to be broken in.

What of communication protocols does UEA slip rings use?

Ethernet, Ethercat, Devicenet, ProfiBus, CanBus,etc. (Up to 100Mbps.)

Can you run data/communications in the same slip ring as power circuits?

The answer is yes.  However, there are a few precautions and design details that we consider when doing this. One of the first things we try to do, when possible, is provide two separate cores. Another thing we look to do is keep the cores and brushes separated by using a sort of divider or separator plate. We can even provide a separate slip ring assembly inside another ring's enclosure.
