3D Printed Slip Ring Covers

United Equipment Accessories is all about delivering a product that fits exactly what the customer needs. We manufacture custom solutions for a variety of applications, and one of the new ways we provide a superior product is through 3D printing.

With the addition of 3D printing, UEA can design and manufacture slip ring parts and covers to meet unique design challenges. UEA utilizes 3D printing for both prototyping and production.

To verify that 3D printed slip ring covers could withstand the environments and conditions required by our customers, UEA had testing conducted to ensure their integrity. Testing included temperature testing and a water absorption test. Both PolyLite ASA white and black were tested and certified. All detailed material data sheets, testing information, and photos can be provided to customers.

Testing of 3D Printed Slip Ring Covers

Temperature Tests

Cold testing was conducted at room temp for control, 0°F, -25°F, and -52°F
Heat testing was conducted at 185°F, 205°F, and 225°F
Parts were subject to the environment for 25 minutes
3D printed threads were stronger than machined plastic parts during temperature testing
3D printing materials rated for -52°F to 205°F

Water Absorption Test

Parts were soaked in a bath for 16 hours to check the absorption of the materials.
Current machined material gained 1 gram in the time frame set, and 3D printed parts gained 1 gram as well.
