At United Equipment Accessories (UEA), we solve challenges from the inside out. This not only applies to our products, but to our processes as well.
As you may know, we are working towards becoming a paperless factory, focusing on reducing the volume of paper that hits the shop floor.
One way in which we are doing this is by eliminating the traditional paper sheets for employee time-off requests. We’ve created an electronic portal that allows employees to login with their unique ID and submit requests for vacation and time off.
This new user-friendly portal features a calendar function where employees can select their vacation dates and have them automatically submitted to their supervisor for review and approval. All approvals are then confirmed via email sent back to the employee. Additionally, employees can track their time-off balance in real time within the portal.
This new web-based, self-serve portal not only eliminates paper, but also eliminates questions and streamlines our processes. Access to information is now at the fingertips of our employees where they can access their balance anywhere, including their mobile devices. The system feeds directly into our payroll system, reducing processing time.
What may seem like a small step, it’s an important one in our initiative to become more efficient and solve problems from the inside out. Not to mention, it also frees up some file cabinet space!
