The Value of Interns

At United Equipment Accessories (UEA), we view interns as an integral part of our business, not just an extra set of hands to help with the menial tasks that others do not want to do.

UEA Intern Ross Cooper

At United Equipment Accessories (UEA), we view interns as an integral part of our business, not just an extra set of hands to help with the menial tasks that others do not want to do.

Over the past several years, we have supported hiring college interns in our Engineering department.

We challenge our interns to grow and offer them a variety of experiences to learn. Sure, everyone has some menial tasks that need to be completed, but the bulk of our intern’s time is spent helping with big projects.

From helping with our plant layout as we expand our hydraulic swivel business, to having them design, develop, and test new products, their enthusiasm and thirst for new challenges is contagious and helps both themselves and our company grown.

Intern Ross Cooper displays part of his work in designing and developing a new cable reel for UEA.

In addition to the more literal hands-on experiences, we’ve asked our interns to help update policies and procedures to ensure quality practices are being followed.

These experiences not only help the intern, but also help our company in a meaningful way, sometimes leading to full-time hires.

I am proud to work for a company that supports such efforts.
