At UEA, we focus on our core values and the ability of our employees to live these values every day. The success of our company culture aligning with our core values begins with our recruiting and hiring process.

When we are looking to bring on new employees, hard skills such as industry knowledge and previous experience are an essential component of the selection process. We also try to ensure that candidates have the necessary soft skills to succeed in their role at any level. Soft skills are cultivated skills a person has, such as social skills, communication, and a positive mindset. These soft skills link directly to our core values and are good indicators that the candidate will integrate into our company culture.

“Ninety-seven percent of employers surveyed said that soft skills were either as important or more important than hard skills. However, 46 percent of new employees fail within 18 months and of these, 89 percent fail because of a lack of soft skills, such as professionalism or the ability to get along with others,” according to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

UEA embraces our core values in everyday activities because it allows the company to foster a positive work environment leading to high levels of innovation and growth for all our employees.

UEA has added 25 team members just in 2021. We recently interviewed several new UEA employees. Learn more about their experiences joining the UEA team:

What is the most interesting thing about working at UEA, and about the work you do?

  • Learning about the different product applications and having the chance to work in different areas and learn the various operations.
  • The days are never boring! Depending on the area, there’s always something to learn.
  • Seeing and learning what the products we build go in. I had no idea how many things need slip rings!
  • It is interesting how slip rings start and how each area builds up until it gets to my area, and I hook them up. I love to see the finished project.
  • The variety of applications our work goes in.

What are your thoughts on UEA’s Core Values and company culture?

  • The core values are good and welcoming.
  • I believe the core values are great, and the supervisors and leads work hard to make sure the employees meet them.
  • This has been the healthiest work environment I’ve ever seen and experienced. We’re human, and you see that you are not just a number.
  • From what I’ve seen, UEA walks the walk and talks the talk. They say employee health and wellness matter and act on it!
  • The friendliest place I’ve ever worked, hands down.

What else would you like someone to know about UEA?

  • Great place with lots of growth opportunities!
  • Everyone’s super nice and willing to answer any question. It’s so refreshing!
  • I have enjoyed working here, and I hope to only grow more and more as an employee.
