United Equipment Accessories has been designing and manufacturing wind turbine slip rings since the early 2000s. During this time, UEA has supplied tens of thousands of slip rings throughout the world in wind turbines of all sizes. In general, wind turbines have increased in size to achieve greater output and lower the total cost of kilowatt-hour production. It is this trend that has pushed wind turbines into offshore locations to allow for even larger and taller turbines.

While utility-grade turbines have become larger, residential and farm- or ranch-focused turbines have emphasized greater efficiency in a small package. While many companies that have focused on smaller turbines have come and gone, but today, a strong market still exists for small wind turbines.
