Many of the requests that United Equipment Accessories' receives are unique to the customer's specific application requirements. There are also instances when our customers need a direct replacement with the application's given specifications. In these instances, UEA's engineers take all the technical data provided for a direct replacement and present to the customer an alternative to their existing design. Whether it is a slip ring, rotary union, or combination slip ring and rotary union, UEA is up for the challenge!

One material handling customer wanted to look at other options in their design and assembly procedures and was open to having the engineers at UEA present a design that met the requirements needed for their application. The existing rotary union was a complex assembly, utilizing several hard tubes, multiple installed fittings, and fabricated ports integrated into its design. Meeting their requirements, we used a streamlined approach to their current rotary union design while maintaining features to make it a drop-in replacement. That is what the hydraulics engineers at UEA do every day and look forward to these challenging projects.

The rotary union needed to maintain its existing envelope with no room to extend the diameter of the spool and minimal allowance for length adjustment of the entire unit. In addition, the rotary union design needed to maintain the same mounting features, torque arm retention, and functionality. Using specialty groove geometry, port offsets, and slotted cross-drills allowed this rotary union to be installed into the customer's machine without the need to modify structural components on their end. The final rotary union design required less assembly for the OEM and was much more robust than the original rotary union. With our ability to adapt to the customer needs, we provided exactly what they needed for this project.
