For United Equipment Accessories, Inc., September proved to be an exciting and eventful month. September 29th 2012 marked our 60th Anniversary. To celebrate this corporate milestone, we participated in several events.
On September 16th, the UEA 60 Committee revealed steel benches which were donated to the City of Waverly. Five decorative benches, commemorating our anniversary and thanking the community for their support, now decorate the downtown Waverly area. Two additional benches will be placed along the Waverly bike trails next spring. On September 24th, we had the formal celebration of our anniversary as a company. This included a catered lunch, recognitions, and plant tours for employees and retirees to see parts of the facility in which they do not work. To show our sincere appreciation for the contributions of our employees, logo bag chairs were given to all as anniversary gifts. On the 25th, our full page anniversary press release was published in the local newspaper. UEA also received recognition from the Des Moines Register by being designated as one of the top 100 Work Places in the State of Iowa for 2012. We highly value all of our employees, and it is rewarding to know that they appreciate working for UEA as well. Later that week I participated in an Iowa Public Radio program, River to River, discussing the mid-level job skill needs of manufacturers in Iowa. Finally, our annual golf outing was held on a very brisk day at a nearby course in Tripoli, IA. With a few special prizes, general prizes for all and a great meal, the evening was capped off by a 20 minute firework display.
Although the month of September has passed, our celebration is not yet complete. We will continue to celebrate or 60th year of business through the end of the 2012 calendar year with other events. Even after our 60th year has passed, we will continue to celebrate our great customers and the slip rings, cable reels, shift controls, and now hydraulic swivels we supply to them each and every week.
