Hydraulic swivels, also known as hydraulic rotary manifolds, are precision components designed to transfer fluid from a stationary source to a rotating piece of machinery.

With over 50 years of experience manufacturing slip rings, UEA can provide hydraulic swivel-slip ring combination units in a single self-contained, multimedia rotational assembly. Our swivels are custom-built to your exact specifications and application requirements.

UEA hydraulic swivel design concepts are refined utilizing SolidWorks solid modeling and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to meet customer specifications. Manufacture of the hydraulic swivels begins with CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing). Swivels are then fabricated by state-of-the-art CNC machines, with seal grooves in either the housing or the spool, and are assembled with high-performance seals.

Quality assurance of the UEA hydraulic swivel includes complete component washing, flushing and testing with fluids that are continuously monitored for cleanliness. The swivels are clean-room assembled and rigorously tested prior to shipping.

    Mounting Requirements of Hydraulic Swivels

There's more to the mounting requirements of hydraulic swivels than meets the eye. Mounting rigidity and swivel torque are important design considerations, and it is important to understand how they interaction with each other.

Elliott Equipment, a manufacturer of cranes and related machinery, has been using slip rings from United Equipment Accessories (UEA) in its equipment for 23 years. When UEA started designing and manufacturing hydraulic swivels—a complementary part to the slip ring—in 2012, Elliott Equipment wanted to know more.

    Combining Functions

When slip rings and hydraulic swivels are specified separately, equipment is at higher risk for failure and requires added assembly and more maintenance.
